CIT attaches great importance to scientific research. In recent 5 years, it has undertaken 887 national-level and provincial-level key scientific research programs and lateral cooperative programs including some programs from National Natural Science Fund, among which 60 have won provincial-level prizes for scientific research, 43 have been patented for scientific research achievements, and 185 of its research achievements have been adopted with a direct economic benefit of 400 million RMB. Its faculty members have published 4176 papers, among which 970 papers have been published in key journals and international academic conferences and 60 papers have been collected by the three international authoritative retrieval centers. Moreover, CIT has published 200 textbooks and monographs.
At present, CIT has 5 key provincial-level disciplines (including one of the 14 key disciplines of Chongqing Municipality during the Tenth Five-year Plan), 2 Excellence Courses of Chongqing. It has established 1 Productivity Promoting Center approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology, 2 key laboratories of Chongqing, 1 key research base for humanities and social sciences of Chongqing, 3 Model Research Centers for Engineering Technology, 30 CQIT-level Research Institutes and 85 practice centers outside CIT.
